Special Effects: B nibs, ruling pens, split pens, kemper writers
Here is a new drawing tool that you may have always wanted — a pen and brush in one. With a chisel nib carved of bamboo and brush shaped felt for a variety of strokes, you can achieve the fluidity of a wash, the boldness of expressive marks or the calligraphic crispness of a drawing pen. The hand-dipped ink reservoir will supply about a 36” line of ink. Originally designed by calligrapher Tom Norton for use with walnut drawing ink; recommended for use with any non-acrylic ink. Washable.
New Horizon Pen - NIB ONLY. Five for $28.75. ($5.75 each.) Paper & Ink Arts’ Horizon Folded Pens are similar in function to the Ruling Writer but feature thinner, sharper edges. We based the shape of our original folded nib on a tool Michael Sull depended on for a pointed brush look while at Hallmark. Use the point for a thin line then lay down some or all of the side for broader marks of varying widths. Actually acts like a hard-edged, pointed brush; the user has more control than with a brush. Our new version makes it easier for the pen to contact the paper and allows a more normal hold. Thanks to Carl Rohrs for testing and advising us on this improved version!
