Letters From New York 1 & 2       


Letters From New York 1, 2 & 3are anthologies celebrating the rich variety of calligraphy, lettering, and related arts that are part of the fabric of NYC. Published as journals of the Society of Scribes, they were edited and designed by Christopher Calderhead. Each is 8.5”x 5.25”, 80 pp., pb and features 100+ illustrations.

Letters From New York (1) includes articles about lettering at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, stencils, an interview with Rory Kotin who specializes in invitation & envelope work for high society and the living tradition of henna body painting.

 

In Letters From New York 2 you’ll find graffiti, fine inscriptions, folk-lettering, and neon letters discovered on a personal tour of street lettering hosted by Paul Shaw.
