Vintage Pens

Some time ago we recently acquired a treasure trove of antique pen points. None of these pens has been produced for decades.  Generally speaking these pens were subjected to much more rigorous quality control than are pens manufactured today. They were made of higher-quality metals and were deburred, a process which gave them very smooth finishes. These pens will, therefore, last much longer than contemporary nibs. Many of these can be used for pressure and release writing; some are rigid business points (for Palmer style writing), some are fountain pen style nibs and a few are broad-edge stubs which made small stub script.

As with all lettering pens, each person has his/her own preferences; this preference is magnified when pointed pens are discussed as pressure & release intensities are so varied. Add the variables of type of fluid, paper and the nature of the job and the alphabet style and the number of opinions becomes infinite. We offer these comments as a starting place for your consideration. Occasionally you will notice disagreement among the testers; you too may have a totally different reaction to many of these pens. A large thank you is due to our testers, all of whom somehow fit this task into their schedules. This is especially significant as they all earn their livings with their lettering skills. Our testers’ comments range from informal to comprehensive. Thank you!

*Boxed gross quantities are available as well as single and dozen quantities. Gross quantities will be sent in their original boxes. Quantities are obviously limited.
