Caran d'Ache Neocolor II Watersoluble Pastels, 15 Set Tin

Neocolor II pastels from Caran d’Ache are two tools in one! Use them dry and they lay down bold, creamy color like a crayon; apply a wet brush and that color melts into a smooth wash that resembles watercolor.

Developed as a water-soluble follow-up to the original Neocolor I, each stick is solid pigment and wax with no wood casing, so you can draw with the tip or lay the side down for broad strokes. Texture is soft and velvety without a dusty residue and colors are vibrant, highly opaque, and lightfast.

You can try so many techniques with the Neocolor II and achieve a wonderful variety of results. Draw directly on your surface, then go over it with water to blend and soften. Pick up color straight from the tip with a damp brush and paint with it like a pan of watercolor. Or, don’t apply water at all! The color and texture is beautiful on its own.

Neocolor II pastels layer well with color pencil, watercolor, and acrylic markers, and they work on more than just paper; try cardboard, wood, glass, fabric, leather, or stone.
