When used on vellum and paper just before writing, sandarac will act as an ink resist, holding the ink and preventing it from spreading. This results in sharper lettering and crisp, fine hairlines. Also helps with bleeding and feathering.
Our favorite method for use: Tie up sandarac in a small square of cotton cloth, and lightly pounce onto your working surface.
As this is a natural product from trees, even through our sifting process there may be some tree bits in the powder.
