Tombow Dual Brush pens are possibly the company's most well-loved product. On one end is a fiber brush tip that is capable of fine, medium, and bold strokes depending on the amount of pressure used. This nylon brush is incredibly resilient, bouncing back to its original shape after every line. The brush end also strikes the perfect balance between stiff and flexible, making it ideal for a variety of skill levels. Beginners at brush lettering will find it easy to get a hang of the Tombow Dual Brush, and professionals will love experimenting with the marker's versatility.

Tombow Dual Brush Pen Tips

The other end features a hard nylon bullet tip, which creates consistent fine lines. This tip is excellent for touching up brush lettering, bullet journaling, and drawing accents to accompany your lettering. Both tips draw ink from the same reservoir, ensuring color consistency.

Tombow Dual Brush pens have water-based, odorless, blendable ink that is capable of creating any color you could imagine. A colorless blender can be purchased for shading and mixing colors, but you can also add water to the Dual Brush's ink to create beautiful gradient effects. Simply apply the color to a plastic surface or palette, add water, and brush onto your paper like watercolor. Tombow Dual Brushes are also self-cleaning, meaning tips don't retain pigment from other markers after blending. Your yellow brush pen won't stain with a darker color that renders it unusable forever!

Tombow Dual Brush Pen Color Chart

Tombow Dual Brush Pens are 20 cm long and come with color-coded caps that make it easy to peruse for a specific shade amongst a large collection. The brush tip and bullet tip are at opposite ends, and each barrel features an anti-roll design. The Dual Brush comes in a whopping 108 colors. This color chart from Tombow divides their extensive color selection into color families. You can find an empty version of this chart here to fill out at home with your own Dual Brush pens.

To get the best use out of your Tombow Dual Brush pens, use them on smooth papers such as Rhodia, Marker Layout, or Fabriano. Textured surfaces like watercolor paper can be rough on these markers, making the brush tip fray and break down more quickly. If you want to use watercolor paper, try grabbing pigment from the tip with a waterbrush. Dual Brushes are also great for bullet journaling because they won't bleed through your pages.
