I bought the black, white, metallic gold, and metallic silver colors of these markers for use in mixed media projects—mostly for creating super bold outlines/highlights as well as drop shadows. I’m not a huge fan of paint pens, as I’ve tried many over the years that all were similarly underwhelming and had way too short of lives, but I’d heard a lot about Posca being super elite, so I decided to give them a go. I’m honestly super impressed. My understanding is that these 1mm bullet tip markers come in both a plastic and felt tip. These are the plastic tip, which is great because they don’t fray or bend—I feel like they are going to last a long time. It’s also pretty quick to prime these markers—just takes a bit of pumping before the paint dribbles right down. Be careful though, because they are quite juicy once primed—even the slightest pump pours a big gob of paint atop the writing surface. They’ve got a lot of paint in them that’s seemingly always ready to go. The consistency of the paint these markers put down is also something to note: it’s super runny (in a good way) and opaque—great for outlining atop different medias with thick, smooth, full coverage. My only critique of these markers is that they don’t come in an even smaller tip size. I love all the variety Posca offers with regard to its marker tips, but it’d be super cool to have an even finer tip size for the super detailed/small stuff too.
Great color for embellish acrylic painting and drawing. Fantastic color.
