Makes a lot of ink!

This amount of crystals will make more ink than I expected. I've only used a small amount so far. I did think the ink was a bit light after mixing, but it's easy to just add more crystals. Overall a great value and fun to have in my collection!

Essential Ink
October 13, 2020
This walnut ink is my favorite and most used ink in my collection. This product is extremely affordable and this one jar will likely produce enough ink to last me several years. There are instructions on how to make it at home and I think the recipe was perfect. You will need a separate jar and distilled water. It is great to have the option to customize how dark or light you want the resulting ink to be just by adjusting the amount of crystals. They dissolved very quickly and a quick stir helped with the remaining sediment. After a few weeks if it seems to be less opaque, just stir it again and lift up anything that has settled to the bottom of your jar. I love the appearance of this ink in writing. It is a sepia-toned brown and the dispersal of pigment makes the writing look dynamic. It also helps produce beautiful hairlines because of how thin the ink is. It doesn't build up easily on the nib and it is very easy to clean.

Easy to Make

Very straight forward instructions, but I find I need to add about twice the amount of crystals just to make it dark enough to show up properly.
