Paper & Ink Arts will be the vendor for the week. We will have all the supplies you may need for your classes. Pre-orders for this conference are closed.

Bone Script "The Juicy Line" by Carol DuBosch – Level: Intermediate.

This contemporary letterform is known as BONE SCRIPT, because of the bone-like shape of the basic pen-manipulated stroke. BONE SCRIPT is a wonderful exercise in pen manipulating and designing the spaces within and around the letters. The letters are fun to write and are the perfect casual choice for many creative projects. In this workshop, I will cover the minuscules and the majuscules of the script and explore many expressive applications and unusual techniques. Some experience with the edged pen is needed.

Class Supplies:

  • Pilot Parallel Pen 6 mm (other Parallel Pen sizes might be nice to have also)
  • Automatic Pen #4, #4A, or #5 (or equivalent in another brand of poster pen) (bring along other sizes if you have them)
  • Ink, non-waterproof (Higgins Eternal, Walnut Ink, Bister Ink, etc.)
  • Paper, layout bond 11x17 (I like Capitol Bond paper from Paper & Ink Arts) (A class project will require layout paper that is 11x17)
  • Watercolor paintbox – I like the Prang brand (Paper & Ink has the 16 pan Prang paintbox)
  • Mixing brush
  • Water container
  • Cotton rag
  • Pencil (whatever you like to use)
  • Bone Folder (or a popsicle stick)
  • Glue Stick (UhU is my favorite)
  • Metal ruler (12” or longer)
  • X-Acto knife (regular #11blade)
  • Cutting mat (or a piece of heavy cardboard)
  • I highly recommend my book, Bone Script & Neuland
