The Brause Steno nib tends to go by many names, including the Brause 361 or the Blue Pumpkin. Some calligraphers find this nib to be a higher quality duplicate of the Hiro 40 nib, which is very similar in appearance and performance. The Steno is less flexible than the Hiro 40, but holds more ink and achieves thinner hairlines. This nib has a unique shape and color as well as a moderate flex, achieving beautiful swells with a little pressure.

This nib produces decent hairlines and can be used for Copperplate, but it is better suited for modern calligraphy styles. Calligraphers of all skill levels will love this nib, and it is more beginner-friendly than the Hiro 40. Durable and long-lasting. Performs better with viscous inks like acrylic and sumi.

Measurements: 40mm long x 8mm at widest / 5.5mm at narrowest

Discounts are as follows: $19.08/dozen, $75.50/box of 50

I like this pen for metallic colors and structured papers. Plus it looks cute.

The Blue Pumpkin is definitely one that I keep on hand constantly. Wonderful for larger letters or thick downstrokes. It doesn't easily catch on paper and very easy to learn, so it's great for beginners. HARDY nib! I used to provide this nib when I taught workshops, since most beginners press so hard at the start. Takes most inks really well.
